For a trip I was planning, I wanted a triangular shawl that was slightly more generous in its angles and had very little openwork. The original was knit at a very dense gauge using sport weight yarn (to meet my travel tough needs). This pattern offers versions in fingering and heavy laceweight that are a similar finished size, but knit at more typical gauges for an airier effect.
It uses either one skein of fingering yarn, a 3.25mm/US #3 needle, and gauge of 22 st/ 32 r = 10cm/4″ in stockinette stitch, flat OR
550m/600yd of heavy laceweight, a 2.75mm/US #2 needle, and gauge of 27 st/ 40 r = 10cm/4″ in stockinette stitch, flat.
