Minija

Minija is a top-down seamless sleeveless raglan sweater that is knit in the round. Minija was inspired by knitting techniques and motifs used in the Baltic States, including Lithuania. The neckline starts with stockinette stitch which is followed by a Latvian Braid. Short rows and raglan increases are worked in order to raise the back neckline for a comfortable fit. The yoke is then worked with raglan increases. The stitches are then divided for sleeves and body. The sleeve stitches are placed on a holder or scrap yarn and the body is worked with a combination of colourwork charts and Latvian Braids. The hem is worked in ribbing. The sleeve stitches are then picked up and finished off with Latvian Braids. The pattern for Minija includes optional waist shaping which is worked by changing needle size
