Grand River Stole

There is an order here, but not at first glance. First it is waves of lace and ripples of colour, layers of texture, and an unexpected splash – just there, behind you! But once you are out in the middle of it, you begin to see the pattern, the way it all moves together, the order, and your place in it.

Inspired by the changing face of the Grand River as it winds its way through Southwestern Ontario (passing less than a kilometre from Wellington Fibres), this stole combines two engaging lace patterns with calming sections of garter stitch in varying widths. It starts at the widest point, and decreases rapidly. So, like the river, you follow the path of least resistance – downstream.
